This project of providing LiDAR surveys for habitat and facilities management for PG&E is one example of our team using creativity, despite the concern of inaccessibility, to produce seamless results.

PG&E’s hydroelectric facility is situated along the Feather River in Lassen County among heavily vegetated and mountainous terrain, with limited sky visibility. As a result, R.E.Y. utilized a shore-based robotic total station instrument to track positioning of the survey vessel, while an on-board GNSS receiver provided time synchronization data to work around the site.

R.E.Y. provided multibeam bathymetric and terrestrial LiDAR surveys for this facility and was later notified by Hypack, Inc. that this was the first time they were aware of any firm utilizing total station tracking for a multibeam sonar platform.
