R.E.Y. provided a full range of project management and civil design services for this project to improve First Street between K Street and O Street. The project reconstructed the existing roadway, segments of curb and gutter and bicycle facilities utilizing Regional Surface Transportation Program (RSTP) funding for construction. The majority of the existing asphalt pavement was in disrepair with flat gutter slopes and settlement, cracked gutter pans and a limited number of catch basins. R.E.Y. implemented a combination of underground and surface drainage improvements to maximize the lifespan of the final paving product. Improvements also included new curb ramps and pedestrian facilities for compliance with ADA Standards and enhanced pedestrian safety and usability.
