R.E.Y. Engineers provided mobile LiDAR data acquisition, processing, and adjustment along 18 miles of Long Island Railroad’s commuter line from Ronkonkoma to Farmingdale. R.E.Y.’s final deliverables were fully adjusted and georeferenced LAS files.

An extremely busy commuter train schedule required that the project be scanned at night with no disruptions to service. Even though scan acquisition took place during off-peak hours, the rail was still under live traffic and subject to all normal safety protocols. Coordination with multiple parties was critical.

R.E.Y. delivered the highest quality of service by utilizing the Riegl VMX-250-CS6 Mobile Laser Scanning System. Not only is the system highly portable, it can be attached to virtually any commercial pick-up truck or hi-rail vehicle for project convenience.
